Forlorn

True thought's so hard to come by,

True feeling, hard to find,

Deceived by veils of pain and tears,

Who knows what's on our minds?

Fear and falsehoods cast their net,

Weaving webs so grey,

You feel no sadness, feel no joy,

All thought lost on the way.

No matter how you keep them down,

Or how well the cloak is made,

Denial cannot last forever,

Its strength will always fade,

The seeds are sown inside your soul,

Inner passion meets their need,

Roots grow deep, consuming light,

You crack, you cry, you bleed.

Reeling from this naked now,

Frightened, shamed, alone,

You turn around, you've gone too far,

You can't find your way home.

Stuck in isolation,

Just can't move, so sitting still,

Nothing forwards, nothing backwards,

Your feelings' had their fill.

So you drift back into darkness,

Veils and falsehoods back in place,

Resting 'till they break once more,

Or until those fears are faced!
